Hi planning to move to Ashford area with 5 year old with speech & language delay (poss. oromotor dyspraxia) - want to organise a private appointment to have him assessed privately before he starts school (will help us know whether to aim to put him in school with specialist speech & lang unit or not). Can anyone recommend a good speech therapist for this and any idea of the cost in advance? thanks for any info

Can you get to Jackie Harland at the Riverston Branch of the London Children's practice? (Lewisham/Lee Borders). She also has a practice in Harley Street.

She's very, very good & well respected by Tribunal panels if it should ever come to that. Well worth the journey for a clear assessment (you can use someone closer to implement any reccomendations if needed).

You will need a statement to get him into a specialist language unit, so you'll have to consider either homeschooling or another school in the interim.

Im in Kent, i used Lesley Wood, recommended to me by SEN SOS, cost about £800, but that was for Tribunal, also included lengthy observation in school. Might be cheaper if not for Tribunal.
