They phoned before 9 am today when I wasn't awake and asked if it was ok to speak about my Carer's Allowance. Expecting some fairly normal routine questions I said fine. To cut a long story short they have suspended my Carer's Allowance. I spent the morning on and off the phone to my accountant.
Basically I started a Social Enterprise (a not-for-profit Co limited by guarantee) last year and have only taken £400 out of the co in salary in the past year as I was building it up when I took unwell and have been off sick. I forgot to send payslips! I know my fault entirely
. Now I've got to get extra paperwork done
. I can't claim Statutory Sick Pay because I don't earn enough
.
However, my accountant has said I might be able to claim Supplementary Benefits
. Does anyone know if this can be backdated?
Anyone else been through this? I know it will all turn out okay, but could do without the added hastle of all the extra work.
