Carers' allowance question...

A quickie. I know you can only get Carers' if you earn less than £100 pw. But what is the qualifying period?

I could possibly do a bit of consultancy for a few months. It might average out as more than £100 pm over the entire year. But I'd be earning it over a short period and after that be earning nothing for most of the year. Can I claim Carers' for the non-working period?

not sure if they will average it out. but do you pay for childcare and pension contributions when you work? they take it into account. i got carers for a short time that way despite earning more than £100/week.
