Movicol

Hi DD is constipated & has been prescribed movicol.

She's nearly 3 & is waiting for an ASD assessment. She's non verbal & has quite a few food issues.

At the moment all DD will drink is apple juice & milk. Does anyone know if it is ok to use apple juice to mix with the movicol?
If not, then has anyone any ideas about how to get it into her?

My son has been on Movicol for a couple of years now. I have found it very effective for him. The pead. who prescribed it said to add it to anything. I usually put it in his hot milk (or hot chocolate) at night and it dissolves with no problems. When I am adding it to fruit juice or smoothie I find it doesn't dissolve so well (especially in the thicker smoothie) so I put a little water in the cup first and stir the Movicol into that to dissolve first then fill up the cup with the juice. The Movicol box says to dissolve it in a quarter glass of water but I would use less than that and then add the apple juice.

We use it in orange juice, and in orange juice and lemonade, and just in orange juice, depending on what our DS will tolerate at the time. Sometimes we add a bit of sugar to help mask the taste further. Apple juice should work fine. And it's been great stuff for him, I must say. Good luck!

I stuff DS's in his milk, he is fed continuosly and I run it over 4 hours works well.

Movicol dissolves in water much better if you don't stir, just add the water and leave it for a couple of minutes. Then stir in your mixer.
My DD (not ASD but was v anxious and controlling when constipated) would only drink Hi-juice summer fruit squash - poo nurse was rather sniffy about that (inverted snob.)
Apple juice is a good mixer for sennakot as it looks similar and is sweet enough to dilute the fowl taste.

Movicol

I've been using movicol for my daughter what feels like forever . She's 9 years old now and has struggled for years . Recently she is suffering from so many tummy aches doesn't go regular and the movicolbtakes forever to work or doesn't work at all . She's allergic to dairy too and um running ouf ideas here am I being silly or is this another appointment at the docs
