Well, I am.... not sure about my boys!

I am currently in the process of appealing against the LA's decision not to assess one of my children. I had a meeting with the secondary school Senco today to make sure that the staff will be prepared for his arrival in September.

She read his latest EP, OT and physio reports then went straight on to tell me what help they can give and what help they would only be able to provide if he gets a statement (she was shocked to hear he had been turned down after reading just this small selection of our evidence - gives me more confidence for the appeal) - although they would provide it pending a statement. I didn't have to quiz her on anything. She even gave me some advice for my meeting with the LA next week.

It was such a nice feeling to hear "we can do this" rather than "we don't have the resources" or "1 of me, 30 of them" !!

I can't wait for them both to start secondary school. I think it will be so good for them!

That is really positive steel, it gives me a bit of hope for Dd3 in 2 years time.

I have heard positive things about the sen department at the school she will be going to.

I hope they settle in ok.Smile

I'm finding my DS's secondary school is a breath of fresh air. I feel I can actually trust them to look after my DS and do their best for him. I don't feel the need to be on their case all the time.

I don't know if we are just lucky or have wisely chosen inclusive schools. (Some of the alternatives weren't nearly so good.)

I think that the sheer size of a secondary can mean that they have more expertise and experience. I hope things go well at your appeal. Smile
