Is there a sign for 'Mickey Mouse' ? Does anyone know?

I don't know! I would have thought that drawing a semi circle (Mickey ears) with your index fingers where the ears would be would suffice?! I will ask my DS's new school after Easter. Their SLT's devised signalong allegedly. Smile

Sounds good. I might finger spell 'm' and then do the two ears with my index fingers.

Amazing that your son's new school's salts developed Signalong. Tell them that I think they are gods and I worship their amazingness!

If you could ask them about Mickey M, that'd be fab!

Thank you :)

I don't know if there is an 'official' sign, but we just do the letter 'M' followed by 'mouse' in Makaton. DS has made the connection, so it must be ok! :)

This is Mike from Signalong. We've not been asked for this but we'll come back with one tomorrow (Friday). The problem with M + mouse is that you've also got Minnie Mouse. Sign for mouse: working index hand (palm back pointing in/up), tip of index at side of nose, makes small twisting movement (picture the twitching nose)

p.s. We haven't yet reached godliness, but we're working towards it

Ooh thankyou Mike. If you're not god status yet, you're definitely a shining star!

Ok, we've had deep discussions about this and come down on the side of the ears. Signalong description: Index hands (palms facing back/down, pointing back/up) make outward circles at top to head, followed by "mouse" (as above).

Now we're discussing Minnie - she wears a bead necklace so that's probably the best signifier (working full "O" hand taps around neck from supporting to working side) followed by "mouse". The alternative suggestion was wife + mouse, but that was rejected as sexist

Thanks for that! Mickey and Minnie are great additions to the signalong signs.

Your signalong expertise is greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much :)
