Gift ideas for DS 7 yrs with ASD

DS turns 7 in June and the only thing that he wants is Skylanders. We have got this for him.

However my parents aren't into buying bits of plastic (as they call it) to get extra Skylanders. I'm looking for more ideas so that my GM can get him something as well.

However DS has so many toys that he doesn't play with.

He loves Superheroes - has ALL of the stuff but doesn't play with it.
He likes Bakugan - has around 50 - doesn't play with them. He just has them.
Likes cause and effect toys as he doesn't have to play with them MIL is getting more marble run. We have Toy Story Action Links already (these are great BTW).
Hates Star Wars.
Has cars - doesn't play with them.
Likes any sort of console type thing - we have them all and many many games. PIL wouldn't buy these.
We have lots and lots of lego - he doesn't construct by himself. He even has the very expensive Lego train set. Doesn't play with it.
I think that what we need are more cause and effect type toys where he doesn't have to actually play as he can set them up and then press one button....

Any ideas thankfully received.

coff we have some of the Hot Wheels Walltracks. I was very disappointed as they just don't seem to work properly and they will be going on ebay soon This is a good bakugan book

sally we're exactly the same although I have the time to spend as only one child. We probably have as many toys as 4 children normally do Grin

Creatover 'I'll have a look thanks

mumfun Deadly 60 looks great. It's not on DIsney which is a bonus in my opinion!

Moose That Perplexus looks fantastic. Shame is about £40 with the shipping and the Rookie version is sold out everywhere.

Thanks coff - the Rookie version that I'd probably prefer still looks OOS to me when I go through that link with the normal version being £12 plus £20odd p&p

ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh I didnt get that far on checking postage yet..............

taking a look at the bakugan book link a sec. I am trying to read the rules of the game on the net too! Not sure if DS is going to get the add up take away side of things. Lookiing for an idiots guide video for me lol

Oh sorry, I didn't realise. I didn't check postage as mine just came through Amazon and we got it on free super saver delivery. I must have got lucky and bought one of the last few Amazon had in stock themselves.

It seems like addictaball has taken over the market - probably because its cheaper I suppose? Looking at the reviews, there are more good ones for the Addictaball now than there were before Christmas, so its probably fine.

we don't play like the book. it's just too complex. We play like on the TV (apparently). We roll the ball things onto the cards and the one whose bakugan has the highest score on the card wins. Thats as far as we go. Don't bother with the Bakugan arena. It is crap. It is 4 pieces of plastic with bumpers round the outside. We got it for 99p at a carboot and that was too expensive [bugrin].

oh noooooo! I just arranged to meet someone in half hour doing a for sale or swap on my FB area for one! Cant let her down now her little boy is excited as he is saving for a surf scooter no way can I upset a child oh well live and learn lol

I think thats the sort of rules we will play to aswell. DS is watching it on cartoon network now so I expect it will be a replay of that.

Ben10NeverAgain · 07/04/2012 18:56

He'll think it is good anyway. DS thinks it is good to have but as usual it just sits in the corner. I have tried to throw it a few times and failed.

I bet it will be a replay Grin. Bet he'll be Dan!

Well it was definately a winner. Met the parent and son and plonked the box in a confused DS lap who just thought we were going to maccy d's and I got a "sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet" and big cheesy grin followed by "this is the best day EVERRRR in my whole life" Grin

and yes it was replayed as he recorded it 6 times so far!

coff33pot · 07/04/2012 21:38

off to do a dvd hunt for his birthday to save DH moaning about sky records being full like he did with horrid henry lol
