Plays in park monday and apart from few apologies for misunderstandings from DS all went smoothly ish.

Goes to put coat on and DS says mum be careful I cut my finger remember? Now DS had a paper cut the previous day so I assumed he got dirt in it. Got home soaked in warm water and no more said.

No more mention of it...........till this morning THREE days later. I notice his hand knuckle was going black on small finger and a bit, well a lot swollen. I asked him if it hurt. DS looks up at me and says "kind of" turns out he knocked it going down a slide he says and it "sort of" went backwards ouch!

Off to A & E we go yep xray shoes he has fractured his finger at the part where it joins the main hand and dislodged his knuckle! Now strapped up for 14 days or so. Even the Doc said thats got to be hurting a long time to which DS returned a hard shrug and pointed to the sad face for the pain threshold and said I guess so.

This boy has got to be made of steel Shock

Owwwwwwwww! Hope it heals up quickly and without any further problems. Bear for brave DS.

moosemama · 05/04/2012 20:17

Ooooo poor ds. Sad

Hope he's better soon.

I always find lots of ice cream seems to help with this sort of injury. Wink (Well it did when it was my 5th metatarsal anyway. Blush)

Ds1 can do himself a proper damage and not bat an eyelid, but if he has a tiny cut or gently bumps himself he's in agony and screams the place down. I've heard this is quite common in children who have ASD, I know there are other people on here who report similar incidents.

Well when we were asked if we had any questions DS pops up with "yes can I still eat my dinner?" Grin

When he was a toddler he fractured his leg in 3 places due to a metal pushbike crashing into him the staff were gobsmacked as he just got up and carried on walking around regardless waiting for me to pick him up and have him plastered to the hip. He also had his elbow popped separated from being yanked in nursery. There he was bottom of his arm swinging loose from the top half lol it was a gruesome sight but nope never shed a tear even when they put it all back!

I forgot all this till today.

Yet its strange that if he stubbs his toe he yells blue murder Confused

Wiring! I actually put in DS3's statement and DLA that he doesn't always respond to pain, so we have to be vigilant.

moosemama · 05/04/2012 20:56

Grin Whenever anybody (docs, psychs etc) asks ds1 if he has any questions, he always says "Yes. What's your favourite video game?" Grin It totally floors most people.

LMAO moose!!!

saladsandwich · 05/04/2012 21:57

thought it was just my ds! he grazes his hand and he screams like hes been shot but quite happily ran round a hospital with a canular in his foot and an abscess in his leg

coff33pot · 06/04/2012 00:21

Moose Grin a fair enough reply from your DS!

With DS its food. If it affects his joy of eating then chaos would reign!

What did make me snigger when waiting for the xray, there was another man getting undressed to go in for xray and the nurse came though and said "you can bring everything with you if you like" DS pipes up in a stern voice from behind his 3ds "dont take any metal will you" and then proceeds to go "BOOOOOOM!" at the top of his voice Grin Stopped both the man and the nurse in tracks.

DS was toying with the idea to join boxing club where a couple in school go. I am not sure if I would be worried more for him and his possible injury surprises or the poor guy opposite Grin

Ow, ow, ow. Your poor DS. [bushock]

I can remember DS2 when he was 2 or 3 walking along the pavement, dragging his finger along the wall, until he'd scraped all the skin off and it was bleeding profusely. He was interested in the blood but showed no sign of pain. Thank goodness he's never broken anything. Now he's more scream and cry at the slightest graze.

Ouchy mini coffee - is a mini Coffee a "babycino"?

DS is the same. Big injuries don't get the same attention as a papercut.
