Update on DS's General Anaesthetic Procedure

We went today to the JR in Oxford for another Refraction Eye Exam and vision test. He has astigmatism and is longsighted, and 26mos ago they did the same procedure and gave us a prescription for glasses. Imagine how I felt to be told that, after the trauma of getting him under and then dealing with howling DS who can't see and wanted the nasty sore thing taken out of his hand, his prescription was unchanged and that he DIDN'T need glasses. Infect they weren't sure WHY he had been prescribed them in the first place!!! When I think of how difficult it has been to get my lovely ASD DS to wear the f**king things in the first place, and how long it took for him to get used to wearing them.......grrrrrr! But at least he doesn't need those terribly expensive bendy flexible framed glasses anymore.

What a pain to have to go through all of that!
But hey, you must have great powers of persuasion to have got him to wear them in the first place, and great that he was so willing to do so.Augurs well for the future and being able to tolerate situations. Smile

Ahh bless you for giving me another positive thing to be thankful for Moondog!! Grin
Was a long and tiring day, and I will be very glad when my little sunshine is tucked up in bed and asleep..... Smile

I'm amazed how anyone can get a child to wear glasses, let alone one with ASD.
You obviously have great powers of persuasion.
Bet you're glad it's over and done with eh?

Well done Sally!

Too bloody right moondog! It was little and often and building him up over several weeks. It took list of patience and being very low key about it and not making a big deal about wearing them or not. Smile

I am ecstatic that we don't need them anymore! Grin

Dd2 has a stigmatisim and long sighted. Her first tests showed it was bad BUT they decided to wait as sometimes they change when very young. Maybe that's what's happened.

Lisa - No change to the prescription or his astigmatism just a poor initial Dx! Oh well no glasses!!!!!!! Confused
