Am a TA working with a child with complex learning needs, I have had a very successful time and wanted o share with people who would understand how big these things are:
The child I work with was sitting during art next to a child with the same name, the TA asked the child was with what colour card he wanted to make his Easter card from. To which my 1-1 replied purple!
Have been working on the child asking for help.
Next in the toilet after I changed him, he couldn't reach the soap so signed help.
The child has also now learnt to answeri yes or no to questions, He has practiced this skill so much today!
Am so so proud.
