I finally, finally have a dx for my DS - PDA. He is in a fantastic school who are brilliant with SEN, but they have no prior knowledge or experience with PDA.
I have a meeting with the SENCo tomorrow and really want a statutory assessment. The problem is that he is very compliant and well-behaved at school. He is also slightly ahead of where he should be educationally. The problem is the minute he comes out if school I am on the receiving end of hours of violent behaviour.
He is currently in year 2, but I really fear that he will start acting violently at school if he doesn't get the help he needs. He has gone from absolutely loving school to worrying about school the whole time. I'm also concerned that as he gets bigger, I will know longer be able to control him. As it is I've had 2 broken toes, a torn disc and pelvis shoved out of place. He's also tried to stab me with a table knife (he said he wanted to stab me but hadn't appreciated that he needed a sharper knife nor could he reach the kitchen knives that are placed out of reach).
How do I explain how bad things are without sounding dramatic and how do I get help for a child that is compliant (but storing up anxiety for release on me and DD every night)?
Many thanks
