Meeting with the school tomorrow to review dd 4.8 (Autism) IEP, she is in mainstream foundation and has a statement for 30hours.

School have been weak on the target setting and focus solely on the learning goals, ignoring social and communication difficulties my daughter has a very poor attention span and though a flitter is achieving acadamically and has made very good progress with her reading.

She is generally in a high state of excitement and very prone to hurting others and on one day last term was able to hit 2 children and bite another for which she was kept in all of lunch in the vain hope it was teach her a lesson (deep sigh) and then sent to the acting head for a telling off.
On her return to the classroom the teacher told her she was very naughty.

Now I am not saying my child shouldn't be punished but it has to be very immediate and clear "We do not hit", as she will of forgotton what has happened 5 mins later, a telling off by someone she has never met will of been very unsettling especially as her comprehension of conversation is limited and she becomes lost. I phoned and challenged the teacher in question of what experience he had with my child and did he use any visual aids to try and help her under stand-I also asked how with 30 hours support she was able to hurt 3 children?
Keeping her in for 20/30mins will have no meaning to her as she can not recall consequence therefore she will not learn to not do it again which I presume is the message they were intending.

I am very upset by the teacher who stands in 2 times a week and her naughty comment would she tell a child they were naughty if they did not run and that child had a disability which affected their mobility.

I want to scream my dd has a social and communication related disability and you are just not getting it.

Please help me to help them with a suitable behaviour programme something that can be monitored.
They are also not recording the instances where she is hurting children is this something that should be happening with a view to renewing the statement later this year?

Sorry never meant to rant on so much any help greatly appreciated.
