Anyone had any experience of this device? DS2's school are buying some and are talking about trying him on it - he can talk but doesnt put words together much. As far as I can tell its sort of electronic PECS.

We trialled one with ds. Found it very clunky and impractical. I pad with proloquo2go is in my opinion much better.

Went to a conference and saw GridPlayer - a free app for Ipad but you have to buy an editing package if you want to personalize it.

I am having real problems with Proloquo2go, Cansu. I am trying to customise it for DS2 and start very simply with a screen of feelings - angry, sad, hurt etc. But I just can't work out how to make these branch starters for other pages - for example, I want 'hurt' to link to a page which says 'tummy hurts', 'head hurts' etc. The manual links to a video about doing this, but then the video doesnt do what it says it does! VERY frustrating. Are you an expert?

Hey everyone, hope you don't mind me chiming in here. This is Chris McCann from ProxTalker.com. The LOGAN(R) PROXTALKER(R) device is not for everyone. However it does work extremely well, especially for those who have difficulty disseminating categories. For example to say "I want to eat apple" can be accomplished on the PROXTALKER(R) by picking and placing 3 "soundtags". On an iPad app or other touch screen device, the individual is typically required to touch "I" "want" "to eat" "food". Food then changes the screen to a list of food choices...meats, cereals, vegetables, fruits..."Fruits" would then be touched and the screen would change to list various fruits...bananas, strawberries, blueberries, orange, apple...they would then touch "apple". So it really depends on the individual. If they would have difficulty understanding the necessary steps to reach "apple" or any other item they want to communicate, the PROXTALKER(R) would be a good fit. WE OFFER FREE TRIALS, WE EVEN PAY SHIPPING BOTH WAYS...ideally you want to try a device with the individual...our Try Me program allows you to do this with no cost: www.proxtalker.com Good luck!

sphil not an expert sorry. I deleted loads from front screen and then copied and pasted what I wanted into each folder. I also took loads of photos to make my own versions. Do you mean you want a folder called hurt and then icons within this folder saying 'tummy hurts, head hurts etc? This should be straightforwardish... Let me know if this is what you mean. I have a feelings folder which has happy and sad in but we are at very early stage of this. I have managed to put icons into folders where I want them. Our local communciation aids resource centre provided dd's proloquo2go and was very helpful in setting it up. Does your LEA / NHS have such a service?

What I want is a folder called 'Something's Wrong' with icons like angry, hurt, sad etc. Pressing each of those would lead to a folder of possible reasons, so pressing 'angry' would open up a folder wth icons like ' computer broken', ' too hot', ' too noisy' etc.

I havent heard of a communications resource centre - contacted our speech therapist last week to see if she could help, but she didnt mention anything like that and doesnt know of anyone in county who is an expert in setting up the app.

Chris - thank you for the info - its good to know about the free trial.

OK I didn't know it would do that! Sorry can't help. There is a company called Therapy Box who supply ipad and proloquo bundles who might be able to advise you. www.therapy-box.co.uk
