3 month wait for Paediatrician report following assessment - is this usual??

DS was first seen by Paediatrician in December of last year and we were told we would have to wait a short while for her report.

As the Local Authority Statutory Assessment panel were due to sit end of Jan I started chasing the paediatricians report in the New Year. It was not ready in time for the panel meeting but all other reports were in ( Ie: the EP, SALT and OT reports) and the panel made the decision that Statutory Assessment should go ahead for DS.

So, we were given another deadline to gather evidence and information by which was also given to the relevant professionals.

This deadline has passed, 2 weeks ago and still no sign of the Paeds report despite constant chasing from myself and the LA.

I received a letter today from the LA to say the process of Stat Assessment for DS will be slowed down due to the fact that this particular report has still not been submitted.

I could scream! Surely it doesnt take 3 months to write a report?

I would appreciate any advice on what my next step is or how to speed this process up?

This is probably Appendix C - medical advice, usually from the Community Paed.

I'de write to the LA (not phone) complaining about the delay and would also complain to the PALS or the PCT that employs the Paed.
