DS (4, due to start reception in Sept) has a dx of classic autism, s&l very much delayed and a lot of sensory issue (or so we believe). we have been only referred to OT 3 months ago (after asking for OT for over 1 year).
problem - the statutory assessment is ongoing and we should receive the proposed statement pretty soon but we still have not been seen by the OT. how on earth are his sensory needs supposed to be met in the statement if we haven't even had an assessment? whenever I ring the OT people I am told that the waiting list is long yada yada yada...
any idea how to sort this?
