Insane things the 'system' has made you do!

DS are finding it hard to decide on a name for our unborn ds.

I like slightly more unusual names, whilst DH likes more traditional names so agreeing can be hard.

The one thing we both agreed on however, was that it had to be 'tribunal-friendly' just in case..............

Home education.

I used to think it was for freaky types - God-botherers, hippy lentil-weavers, 'odd' people generally but after what we've experienced and since realising that the best we can hope for in 'the system' is for ds to 'cope' with a subatandard and ineffective education, we took back control for ourselves and it's never been better.

But I'd never have imagined myself doing it in a million years as it's way too bonkers for my liking .

we're now seriously considering moving house as there is far more in the way of support at the other end of the county

our goal, until recently, was to move out to the wilds and have a small holding

Another one with a long term goal of moving house.

Oddly partly to give myself the financial viablity of being able to home educate if needed long term, and yes to access services at secondary level that just aren't available with my son's level of impairment locally.

The "system" has had me trapped at my current address and unable to work for long periods for the best part of 4 years now. Eventually that will mean some form of career change as I slide towards becoming obselete in my old professional role : (

Purchase a business in the middle of a recession because it was the only way we could get time off to be at all the "lets talk about this" meetings for schools, LA, camhs, EPs knowing there were going to be hundreds of them to get somewhere then hundreds of them to argue about it all working..........
