Retained Moro reflex - aggressive at home but withdrawn at school?

Dr Grounds of Visual and Multi Sensory team at Colchester hospital has said she will take a look at ds1 (6yr 9mo) for retained reflexes if i can get the school SENCO to refer him. He is always on edge, anxious, nervous or looking for a fight. But at school he is quiet and withdrawn - teacher says he has hardly ever heard him speak, so I'm doubting whether the SENCO will do the referral. I am now wondering if I am barking up the wrong tree, or perhaps just barking. Can children with retained Moro reflex be like this?

i can't say I knoiw anything about retained moro reflex, but talk to the SENCO,

if s/he is nice s/he will listen to your concerns, will appreciate that behaviour can be different at home and may well do the referral for you.

sorry, just googling now.. does he have other symptoms of it? poor balance/co-ordination etc? that may bes omething they have noticed at school that would back you up?

other than that I think some of the symptoms i'm reading about would contribute to a quiet withdrawn child, so that in itself not necessarily a sign that he doesn't have this

He is already having SALT support and attends the twice weekly gym trail ( fine and gross motor skills) so he is already on her radar. I'll be brave and talk to her next week. Just worried that since she has dealings with both my boys he sees me coming and thinks 'oh no not her again' so i like to be sure im othering her or a good reason. Sure I'm not alone in that though.

Large, I'm interested to read that retained reflexes are considered a problem by an NHS hospital. I had thought that it was purely 'alternative' therapy.

I hope you can get a referral. It's no skin off senco's nose to write you a letter. If he's paralysed with fear all day at school I'd have thought that's quite moro-ish.

Please will you come back and let us know. how you get on?

Hi oodles. Will def let ou know how I get on with SENCO. I spoke yesterday with a mum whose son has attended the clinic for a couple of years and he was very enthusiastic about it.
