Pushchairs for older children

Hello all
My girlfriend's son has Global Development Delay and although he can walk OK, he does need his pushchair for longer journeys. The trouble is that at nearly 5 he is now getting a bit big for it.
Does anyone have any pointers of where to look for a larger alternative? I suppose we are really looking for something half way between a pushchair and a wheelchair, that we can use while he's still a bit "young" to manage longer walks.
Also any idea of how much they cost and if funding is available? The one or two chairs I've found online seem horrendously expensive .
Thanks ever so much for your help.

i think there's one called the mcclaren major. there's loads on here that have them so i'm sure they'll get back to you soon.

We had an maclaren and found it really good. the bonus being it folded up really small. You can also get some really cool Kid active wheelchairs. they come in really nice colours. these should be supplied by the wheelchair department.

We got our Maclaren Major from the wheelchair department at the hospital but they have them on the Mothercare website if you want to see what they are like here
