Hi, please forgive the ambiguous nondeplume as we are still fighting our local education authority tooth and nail (it has been at least nine years) we feel that its best not to name names etc (yet).

Has anyone else found that local education authorities, schools, health and even social services (when the child is recognised as disabled) all do their best to avoid doing anything unless you push them into legally unavoidable situations.

Some of our exploits with diagnosis can be seen at bloodyprofessionals.blogspot.com/ but this is to save time typing them all here (like we have enough to do).

Are we alone, or is it a problem across the UK?

Read your blog.

It's a national problem.

I had even worse problems trying to get suitable post-16 placement which was only secured 2 weeks before the start of term.

When DS reached 16 he secured legal aid (as was) and successfully sued the,

Everyone has these same issues with 'professionals' and LAs - just read the experiences on the SN childrens board.

You won't get many responses on this board - much more traffic and understanding parents on SN Childrens Board.

It took me about seven years then a week in court to get our LA to recognise that there was a problem with our child.

They were evasive, slippery, disingenuous and found many people to talk for them in court (good expenses) but they lost the case.

I aged as it was such a hassle but worth it for my child.

Hi just to let you know you are not alone, i am two years down the line fighting for my daughter to access an education. Your child and their future is worth fighting for so go get em don?t give up I?m not going to ever give up or go away till things changed . The way I see it, if you did not fight the fight nothing will ever change. You?re not just fighting for your child; your fighting for everyone else?s someone has to set the bar as hard as it is. Keep smiling but most of all keep doing what you?re doing and good luck.
