DS was seen by the consultant psychiatrist at CAMHS yesterday.

She did ADOS to see if he is ASD.

We wont find out until next friday if he is and its driving me mad!

As far as i can fathom out from DS they talked about Spongebob, Star Wars, Star Trek-dont know why?

He had to make a story up using shoe lace, car and some other things, She asked him if he was lonely he said "how can i be lonely? i have 2 parents a baby sister and a puppy!

He then said they played with toys, i dont think he will get the diagnosis because they go off imagination etc dont they and if he can make stories up and play with an adult they are going to say he isnt ASD and then we will be back to square one, Does anyone have any insight into what the consultant might have been hoping for with these questions and what DS answers could indicate?

Thanks

I think with the imagination they may be looking at if he would re-inact things he's seen on the telly or if it came from his own imagination ...
Its a bloody long wait though isn't it... I would be going crazy as well
didn't they give you any indication.

he told me this morning that she asked him did he have a girlfriend, and he gave his usual response-sheer terror on his face followed by a loud NO, then she said well most kids do and he replied do they dont, what does it all mean its driving me MAD, DS keeps telling me bits here and there and im trying to piece them all together why ask a kid suspected of ASD if they have a girlffiend?

Can't really help Jenk but didn't want you to think no-one was reading. I've never had any contact with CAMHS or Psychiatrists (apart from working with some). I would have thought that any formal dx tool such as ADOS would have to be quite hard to twist.... just don't know though. Maybe go on NAS website, if you look for PARIS and type in ADOS you'll probably get some info.
