Gotto pre school this morning, guns a blazing... all prepared to be reasonable and then say ahh but I can make the request so up yours...

The pre school advisory teahcer arrived first, and agreed that if I feel he's not getting enough support in pre school we really should press on, becuase IF its refused, we'll have a second chance to request before he starts school.
So she put this to the ed psych, and I got to put my case ot her, and asked if it would help if I made the request, BUT they are now goignt o proceed... we need to get the SALT and clinical psych ot do updated reports, I see both of them on monday...
It seems a bit too easy mind... but the ed psych has even promised to make an appointment ot do a home visit to get all the history and stuff. I'll of course be writing a nice essay about his problems and what difference support makes etc etc

I'll trawl through previosu posts on here and see what IPSEA can tell me.

BUT

THANKYOU THANKYOU THANKYOU

to everyone who's offred me advice, its much appreciated.

x

If the LEA agree to assess, they will themselves ask for reports from the various professional people involved with your son.

I would still write yourself to the LEA asking for your son to be assessed. I personally would not rely on these people to do it.

BTW if your son needs speech therapy make sure its in Part 2!!.

I've got a very close eye on them... I can download teh request form from the county council and have it filled in ready, and waitingto go if they hang fire tooo long now they've agreed to go ahead.

And I'll make it very obvious thats my intention!

They asked if I felt he would benefit from extra suport in pre school and I said ye, its very hard though to say that pre school aren't really trying hard enough with him, when your in the setting.. and that part of teh problem is that they're too soft on him..
only his key worker seems to be tough enough to withold his anc til he signs 'thankyou' or exchnges a pecs symbol... teh rest of tehm all say 'bless him he just doesn't understand'

don't let me get started on that one...
