Hi everyone, im new to the site :) I have a 9 year old daughter with high functioning autism and generally copes well if we stay at home and no-one comes near us!! lol At the min everything is causing melt downs for her, worrying about moving on to secondary school (not for another year!!) , summer bringing insects which she has high fears of, in fact just about anything it seems at the min! We are in N.Ireland and I would just love to have people to turn to, get advice from, lean on! I feel sometimes having a child with this can be very lonely, my daughter has got to the stage she wont allow anyone into our house to visit and she cannot stand ppl in her space.

Hi Laney, and welcome. My DS2 is 12 with ASD and in year 7 so I can understand the secondary transition fears. He's surprised me by coping really well. We did choose a lovely inclusive (if massive) school, though.

There's a Lisani2003 who has a post, 'I'm new...' who is also from NI, may be worth searching for her?

Hi laney, I have a Dd who is also 9 and has ASD, she is high functioning. I don't know why she wasn't Dxed with HFA but there you go.

My Dd3 is fine most of the time so long as she is doing what she wants and no one is bothering her. She is ok about having visitors so long as they don't try to tell her what to do.

My Dd3 has 2 more years at primary so I have a bit more time than you to get used to the idea. Do you have any idea where your Dd will go and what the SN's department is like.

I am not in ireland by the way.Smile
