Blimey, dotty. That's a bit of a marathon. I hope you feel vindicated and your DS finds that his DX helps him to understand himself better and feel more positive about any difficulties he has. Will this have any immediate effect on support or services? Is your DS still in education?

Flippin eck, Dotty. That has been a long hard slog!!

How do you feel??

Glad that it is sorted anyway. Smile

Relieved but angry he went backwards at 18 months and stopped talking he said that was classic signs, never even got a reaction when I told him after college. [Sad]

It's a lot for anyone to take in. Hope this makes life easier for him.

wow have you been waiting all that time? Who dxed her?

dottyspotty2 · 20/02/2012 21:25

DX was made by Adult ld team and autism team mh nurse is on team, he's supporting me with childhood issues as well. Always thought the way I was is why he's like he is but he says its totally different reason I was withdrawn. They met him today at college and observed and spoke to him says he has problems in all 3 triads.
Funny was looking at old photos today and only noticed the way he used to look away or straight ahead. CAMHS told us he was categorically not autistic at 8 because he interacted, had imagination and eye contact. They only had ADOS training 2 years ago I was told today. Their going to do report them come up and go through it with me hes seeing me twice a month atm [MH nurse]. His EP argued at every review about his DX and got him into one of the best ASD schools he retired when he was 12 we became good friends, saw him the other week.

CAMHS really are a law unto themselves aren't they? you must be very angry.

mariamagdalena · 20/02/2012 23:16

Blimey. From 3 to 17+ to get a diagnosis. That must be a record.

Are you going to tell Camhs they missed it?

dottyspotty2 · 21/02/2012 08:04

Am I hell he was discharged at 16 found out his dr there would only dx either ADHD or Autism not both.
