first of all - yay! they've upped younger son's hours from 22 to 25 (he needs f/t 1:1 including breaks and lunch and school makes up the difference) so I'm pleased about that.

But - they won't write in his statement that he needs 2 people if he is offsite for any reason. They have put "exceptional level of support" but won't specify 2:1. They did tell me why but for the life of me I can't remember how she put it Grin something about writing about the need and not provision. Or something.

I mean, it doesn't matter I suppose, because the school is great and they will always go 2:1 offsite, but surely 2 adults offsite is a need and could be specified?

Does anyone have 2:1 offsite specified on the statement?

Yes, but they had to give extra hours and it's not just offsite that my boy needs 2:1 for, if that makes sense.

So tell them to write that he NEEDS two adults to supervise him when off site.

What do school say?

Just write to them asking them to specify and quantify 'exceptional level of support'.

school are fine. LA are fine, really. They didn't even come to the review, just upped the hours on our request and based on the reports. They're really very good. I just like things to be down in writing, very clear for everyone. If it's not in writing, it doesn't exist, iyswim Grin (I think I'm scarred, starlight... Wink )

My eldest is already at the school - they just make the hours up from their budget and that's what they'll do with my youngest too.

I just like it to be quantified, not some wishy washy thing that's open to interpretation, iyswim. I wondered if people had got them to specify or whether I was being unrealistic. I just don't see the difference between saying that he needs 1:1 - which is on there, and saying he needs 2:1 offsite.

I suppose if they say 2:1 then that comes with an additional financial commitment from them?
