I?m new to all these forums and that. i am a single dad trying my hardest to raise my daughter. it been so hard on my own. my daughter?s mum couldn?t bond properly and decided instead of trying to just up and leave us.
I have just recently decided to use forums and it?s been helping me great I find it?s a good way for me to vent, help share my experiences and help others in my situation. I know how hard things are trying to bring a child up yet alone a child with special needs.
My daughter has (adhd) and Asperger?s syndrome it has been a real struggle for me since her mum left. I didn?t realise just how tuff things really are until
last month when I was in a local shop where I live in Aldershot. The shop was called The Games Shop. I was in looking for a board game one Saturday. I noticed there were parents in there with special needs. I thought nothing of it at first. I over herd one of the parents talking about an advice centre called sosisen. I asked them about it and got a number I took my daughter alone with me and they said yes there was defiantly more wrong then dyslexia. I has been confirmed that my daughter has got Asperger?s.
my daughter now attends a group session every week with the NAS social skills group, for Hampshire parents. Held upstairs at The Games Shop every Saturday. the wonders it has done for my daughter. Starting to interact properly in school and everything the help and support I?ve been receiving is great.
Even from the smallest of sensory toys that was recommend to me from The Games Shop other shop The Little Games Shop which is based in Farnham the next town away. Their reasonably priced sensory toys are amazing it?s just so surprising how the simplest of toys can help a child. The staff there are friendly and knowledgeable, they bend over backwards to help you find the right toy you?re looking for. I highly recommend that anyone with a child which has special needs visits this store. I hear about sensory toys all the time now this to my knowledge the only place locally to get them without going online is there.
