does anyone fancy keeping me company whilst I wait to see if ds needs to go to hospital?

Ds has had a temp since last night, liquidy chest, floppy and miserable. The dr has given him antibiotics, but said if his breathing starts seeming laboured or he takes a turn for the worse to go to hospital (we have open access at the children's ward, because ds is at risk of aspiration infection - we think?!)

So I am sat here worrying and waiting, our bag is packed, just in case, and I can't put ds down because he just wants to cuddle. I am on the verge of feeling sorry for myself, so please stop me!

Hi Hazey - Hope he is doing ok today, and you haven't had to go back in. Thinking of you.

Hi, hope all is going well today

Did they take a sample? Ds ended up with double pneumonia caused by rsv...

Dd2 used to get recurrent chest infections from aspirating, and we had an open route to anti-b's through gp. We just needed to let them know and pop in for a prescription. She would always start going downhill on a Friday Hmm little minx.

Hope he starts picking up today x

thankyou everyone.

ds slept most of yesterday and then we spent the night worrying that we should take him back to hospital, temperature soared again and he was sick twice.

We were all ready to go back in first thing this morning, but ds seems to be ok, temp right down, more energy than he has had for the last few days.

Fingers crossed last night was the worst of it and he has turned the corner now.

Hope he stays stable and you don't have to go back. Can you do an online shop?

hazeyjane · 09/02/2012 10:17

we had one delivered yesterday, but i have just bought myself a new swimsuit (curse online shopping!) and a lovely friend texted me last night to ask me for my favourite sandwich filling, to be delivered later.

hopefully if he does need to go back, it will be before the predicted snow comes in!

How is he doing?

hazeyjane · 09/02/2012 13:53

oh bollocks, he seemed fine this morning, but now he is back to being floppy on my lap and temp creeping up (38.5 at mo). The antibiotics should be working by now shouldn't they?

Sorry to hear that, Hazey. IME children with infections/fevers are often brighter in the morning after a (although disturbed) night's sleep and go downhill again in the afternoon. If you are at all worried, get back in touch with the doctor. Xx

hazeyjane · 09/02/2012 20:14

well we went back in, and by the time we got there ds had brightened up and the dr made me feel like an idiot for going in. she was utterly confused by the rest of ds's medical history ('how do you know he has reflux?' - 'um because his consultant diagnosed it') and asked me lots of irrelevant questions about whether I had a partner and did I live in the house with my other children. she made me feel a bit shit really, and so we got home as quickly as we could.

good to hear you are back home, just checking on you x

Glad to hear DS has picked up again Hazey.
Doctors do repeat the same script of seemingly pointless questions don't they! If only they would just read the previous notes - I thought that was what they were for! My DD must have been 14 before the doctors stopped asking me the question " did you have a normal delivery" WTF!!! And their little family tree drawings of who lives at home - very boring - me, DD, DS & DH - if there was anything significant in the family history that was relevant to DD's health I think that too would be well documented in her humongous file.
