DLA phone call

Had a phone call from work about the DLA renewal form today.

They asked what support was on offer from the school. I said what DS2 gets (b*er all).

The response, well if school is not offering support there can't be much wrong!

Not looking forward to the letter........

Sure, and if was getting support you wouldn't need any help.....

I do hope you got the name of the idiot you spoke to. If you didn't I would ring back and tell them the time of the call etc and they can find out who it was. Relay their comments and ask if this is protocol; to make assumptions on a child's dis/ability based on what they do or don't get at school.
I mean if my boys DLA was based on SS input for example, they'd get bugger all an' all- simply cos SS are so crap. Doesn't mean the support isn't needed though!
Surely a member of DLA staff would realise that...Hmm, ok maybe not, some of them are stupid.

don't think getting a lot of help as school accounts for much anyways. DD is on EYA+, loads of 1:1, statement in process but DLA said this help is "not in excess" of the help a typical child would receive Hmm. but then, the idiots also said that DD has only "some communication difficulties" despite a dx for classic autism, very little speech and tons of related issues. turned down twice. we are off to tribunal Angry

Got the DLA letter today. He was on lower grade care but nothing else, which given his needs I think was fair.

But they have cut that out, but given us the lower mobility rate which TBH I'm not sure he really qualifies for....

So given that the money is the same should I leave it or will the lack of a care component make a difference later on? The award will take him up to his 16th birthday.

Any advice welcome, thanks

No harm asking for a reconsideration. Good luck.
