Ados-for diagnosing ASD

DS is being assessed next Weds for ASD, they dont use DISCO they use ADOS, ive never heard of this before.

Has anyone elses child been assessed this way and can you tell me what to expect about the assessment.

J had ADOS for his assessment last year. It stands for Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule and it's a developmental test which involves the examiner interacting with the child for 20-30 minutes. Eight tasks are carried out to ascertain certain behaviours. Have a look at the NAS diagnostic page - ADOS is mentioned halfway down.
