Back into battle.

Back in 2007-2008 I battled with LEA to get statement and school for DS who has ASD and ODD. We won and DS now attends a 25 place autistic school.
In recent months DS has been getting more aggressive (puberty possibly) and the school have started having concerns about his safety. He has funding for 3:1 at moment but is using 1:1 and has been banned from trips as that requires 2 staff just for him. The school requested the lea to fund more support for him and obviously they have refused. So it's back into battle. The head is great and has rang tonight explaining she is going to describe DSs worst day when talking to LEA and has Said it will sound awful and she doesn't want me to be upset. She is very supportive but I feel fed up that yet again we h e to fight for what DS needs.

Hi Bonkerz

All support should be written into the Statement so if he's actually receieving and needs 3:1 that's what the Statement should show.

It is upsetting to see comments about your DS in black and white (I know).

But if it serves its purpose to get him the help he needs then it's not all negative.

Puberty is a very trying time for children with ASD- they can change quite dramatically.
Best wishes
