I know we can often get let down by results that we don't anticipate etc. but has anyone else ever been let down by turning up for an appt with a CP and that CP failing to be there? another instance: failing to be available for a meeting that they suggested time/date for?

yes - has happened a couple of times with CAMHS. No apology either.

Complain to PALS.

what is PALS?

Happened this week. But I sometimes wonder, with some of them at least, if it's incompetence rather than unprofessionalism. They may be well trained in their field, but the practicalities of organising their schedule is either an anathema, or a complete mystery to them

No apology for us either. I do agree I think there may be a degree of incompetence, but you think their training may make them understand how upsetting it is? Yes, if there was an apology I would be a little happier!

c0rn PALS is the Patient Liaison Service. The NHS Trust that you come under and the PCT that you get services from will both have one.
I've used both to great effect. One of my e-mails that I sent them complaining about the appointment system went straight to the CEO of the hospital. I had appointments booked by 10 o'clock the following morning.

thanks Smile
wish I'd known about that when we turned up for our appt to be told that the psych wasn't there Hmm

Cornsilk yep I've had two apps missed with our CP! Must go with the territory!

c0rnsilllk · 21/01/2012 17:51

probably the same lot chundle!

Disappointing though it is to hear others have had the same experience, it is also quite comforting to me as I know am not feeling as paranoid about it, thinking they do not take us seriously again!

DH wants to complain straight away to PALS but I've taken the approach of writing an email to the CP as my first step. [hmmm]
