I got ds's statement letter last week and I was hoping I could get some advice from you lovely mumsnetters!

I want ds to have 1:1 support. I remember reading in this forum that the wording of the issued statement is very important as it can refer to 20hrs 1:1 or mean 20hrs of funding for the school's general pot Shock. Please could you let me know what wording to look out for in the statement??

it needs to specify specific 1:1 LSA support for your child for however many hours are agreed ie 20, not funding for an equivalent level, or "up to....", or reference to some kind of banded funding, which it might say could buy 20 hours or 2 hours teaching at the School's discretion.

Remember you can challenge the Statement wording or amount of support if you do not agree with it.

It needs to say something like "XXX will receive 20 hours from a qualified/experienced TA for 1:1 support and small group support."

The statement has to detail what your ds will GET, not what will be provided.

YOu might like to add 'exclusively for him' where it matters and can't be a shared resource.
