Im going to look around a school ive viewed previously (wasnt too impressed) and im already grumpy about the transport arangment they are offering if he goes to said school. Its a 45 min run each way but they are saying there will be at least 3 or 4 other pick ups and so might take 1 hour 15 mins each way.I personally think this is a long time on top of a full day for a 7 year old and was wondering if there is any law(or good practise Grin guidelines) i could use to fight my case.sure ive seen it somewhere but i might have been dreaming Smile.

There was another post about this ages ago, and people found various guidelines, although IIRC there was no actual legistlation. Hang on and I'll see if I can find the post...

Here you go

National recommendations state 75 mins max, this however isn't always possible due to traffic etc. I doubt you would have anything to fight.

Just a thought though, my son is 5.6 and is on his bus for 1 hour 10 mins and is fine, he loves it in fact. Also they do tend to give you worst case just incase.

my dd lost her placement at a ss 18 months ago, she only had 1 1/2 days there, she was put in a taxi at 8.10am no other pick ups, i got a phone call from school at 10.40 asking if she was going to school today, taxi driver had got lost, neither the driver or escort spoke a word of english, so couldn't ask anyone, he was too far away from base so his radio didn't work, by the time dd got to school she was in meltdown, same driver and escort turned up next day and dd said they kept talking in a different language, and kept laughing, she thought they was laughing and talking about her, and went into major meltdown after being in taxi another 2 1/2 hrs on day 2, dd got excluded for her behaviour. i was told there is no max time for travel to and from school by the lea.

davids, OMG, how distressing. I hope you made an official complaint. How on earth can anyone get a job as an escort if they can't communicate in English?

Whilst there may not be an enforceable legal time I think tribunals would consider travel time as an issue. It was discussed at ds tribunal. So if you want your ds to go to another nearer school it might be one reason why this other school is more suitable.
