Waiting for a call back from the geneticist about test results-bit nervous

I rang yesterday on the off chance that the last lot of test results were in expecting to be told no, a letter will come when they are. The secretary said oh sorry your DD's notes are with the appointments team. I then started worrying and saying well does that mean we are having an appointment to discuss results then? To which she said she'd find out and call back.

I rang back today and the same (very very nice) secretary said she now had the notes, she looked at them while I was on the phone then said actually she'd get the geneticist to call me back. So am waiting for the phone call and worrying that this means there is news.

Of course it could just be she wants to tell me they have found nothing and that genetic testing has come to an end-this would be frustrating but is quite a possibility. Also I know the secretary usually can't give results on the phone but it did sound like she was looking to see what it said and then decided it was best the geneticist called herself.

I just need to wait don't I?!

Also waiting for dd's consultant for her (seperate issue)genetic condition to call me as there are some issues with her medication control atm and have had two hospital admissions since xmas. Bit stressed!

((((hugs)))) used2, it's gut wrenching isn't it?! You do just need to wait like that's easy Brew How's dd doing, have you moved yet?

coff33pot · 10/01/2012 13:19

Big HUGS coming to you from this direction too x

Nothing worse than playing the waiting game....you are right secretaries cannot say much regardless of good news/bad news as they cannot explain indepth and could get it all totally wrong when trying to answer questions.

Hope all is ok have a choc biscuit to keep your sugar levels up along with a Brew

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 10/01/2012 13:22

I'll hold your hand and offer Brew and sympathy while you wait. Hope it's 'good' news. Xx

used2bthin · 10/01/2012 13:29

thanks all. Still no call wish she'd hurry up. Sec said it will definately be today. Hope its not while I do school pick up.

yes we have moved ninja, been non stop illness since then, me then dd. Hoping for an early spring and an end to winter bugs. Nice to be in the new place though and its getting there in terms of stuff like shelving etc, only one box left to unpack!

only one box left, that's impressive, we still have boxes 4 years on Blush Sorry to hear you've not been well, this time of year can be miserable can't it.

used2bthin · 10/01/2012 13:44

Yes every year we have illness dd only really goes into hospital in winter its miserable.

No loft or garage here so have had to get everything out the way-just built wardrobes in the bedroom so it all had to go in there!

I'd love a garage just for the storage! We've accumulated so much stuff over the years we really need a big clear out, part of our task for this year is to just cut down on the amount of stuff we have. Hopefully it won't be long until the weather warms up, the summer was such a wash out it doesn't feel like we even had a proper summer.

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 10/01/2012 14:05

I've got stuff in the loft that got put up there just after I moved in, 15 years ago! At least if your glory hole is accessible you have some chance of getting rid of the stuff that you really don't need! Lack of storage can either make your house really untidy or can force you to be super efficient! Here's hoping its the second! Grin

coff33pot · 10/01/2012 14:28

dont get me started on my loft! I swear I can see bulges in the ceiling! I know all eldest DDs toys are up there as she refused to part with any and I have had two more children since then. Its a bit like an aladins cave up there and that in itself puts us off moving!

TheNinjaGooseIsOnAMission · 10/01/2012 14:34

we had our loft converted in the summer and still have some of the loft contents in the dining room, I hate it but we are getting there slowly, I don't want to be binning stuff that's still useful and can go to friends/charity etc. I have loads of small people's clothes that I just can't give away atm so it's all going charity shop way when I can get myself organised! That may take some time. I also found dd1's old buggy up there, she's 21, what was I thinking putting it up there in the first place!

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 10/01/2012 14:38

Forgotten about your 'child bride' status, Ninja! Grin

TheNinjaGooseIsOnAMission · 10/01/2012 14:45

Grin ellen. Maybe it's best of I don't mention dh's madonna pillow cases from his teen years as that much polyester would make anyone itch so it's not just me who has gone for the 'just bung it in the loft' approach Grin

used2bthin · 10/01/2012 20:22

Our loft and garage were packed full of stuff we hadnt used since we moved it in-and unpacked boxes! DP is very militant about clutter so keeps on top of things-I am a hoarder so we argue over it a lot!

The geneticist never did ring! Am a bit annoyed because I will be at work tomorrow so may not be able to answer if she rings then. Also, it obviously isn't urgent if she didnt ring today so surely putting me out of my misery would have been quite quick!

oh no used2 what a pain!!

I wish one of us was good at getting rid of junk, we seem to fill any space as soon as it's made.

used2bthin · 10/01/2012 20:34

Yes it has is advantages, he is very stressy about mess though which makes for a tidy house but is irritating when he moves my stuff and I can't find it!

Yes bit annoyed about the geneticist, if there is no news surely she could have asked the secretary to call me and tell me that. And I feel I have been given the impression that there are some results in. Wish I had jus waited for the letter.

Just seen this, waiting is so horrible. I hope you hear something today.

Holding your hand.

coff33pot · 11/01/2012 15:59

oh no! I hope you get a call today and the chance to answer the phone. How annoying!

used2bthin · 11/01/2012 19:32

Thanks, I rang again today and she called back and looked up results while I was on the phone. A cautious ok because she's got some of the results for amino acids and organic acids and they are normal from the urine test-the blood tests aren't in yet but she said she would expect urine and blood to show abnormaities so be reassured that it will prob be fine.

They couldnt get results for MPS so she is ringing the lab but we may have to repeat. I forghet what MPS screening is but am sure a late night google session will remind me at some point!

TheNinjaGooseIsOnAMission · 11/01/2012 20:04

sounds a tentatively good result Smile hope that will allow you to relax for a bit now.

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 11/01/2012 21:30

That's good. I'm sorry you haven't got any answers, yet, though.

coff33pot · 11/01/2012 21:51

Good that you got through but sorry that it ended up bits of results. Seems to be heading in a good direction though :)
