First appointment re ASD assessment

Good morning

I'll try to keep this short. I always refer to one of my sons having ASD - as everyone agrees he has autistic traits, but he's not been formally assessed as he got leukaemia 2 years ago and his assessment was postponed.

Anyway, now his leukaemia treatment is nearly finished, we have been referred to the local MAAT team. Tomorrow I have to attend an appointment to begin his Autism Assessment. My son does not have to come with me.

What do I need to take?

I presume they are going to want to know history from birth, what services have been accessed already, etc??? He's already statemented and attends a SN school as he has other problems. I have made a list of what I consider to be his unusual behaviours (as I tend to forget things when I am stressed).

I just want to be prepared. Help! Thank you

It sounds as if you have everything covered! Taking a list of concerns / examples of behavior is a great help, I did this and the paed asked to keep it for the file.

Thanks for the quick reply. It's just a handwritten list so I think I'll type it up so we can have a copy each if they ask.
