Woodcroft. It isn't huge with huge grounds, or an awful lot to look at but OMG at the level of expertise and sheer knowledge of the staff. The Headteacher is AMAZING and KNOWS, not just about ASD but what parents have to go through.

Just thought I'd share. Sadly it is independent (not that expensive, although probably out of the range for most parents purses) but if you get a chance to see what is 'out there' then do.

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 06/01/2012 18:38

Starlight, is it in your price range?

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 06/01/2012 18:42

Looks great, but you'd need the LA to fund it?

coff33pot · 06/01/2012 18:43

do LAs do part funding???

someoneoutthere · 06/01/2012 18:44

Where is it star? Anywhere near Surrey, Richmond or Feltham?

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 06/01/2012 18:47

North London, Chigwell way. Loughton, I think.

someoneoutthere · 06/01/2012 18:53

Too far for dh to drive to work, shame.

StarlightMcKenzie · 06/01/2012 19:08

No, I doubt it is in my price range but they don't take privately funded children anyway, - only those funded by LA.

Sadly there are a few reasons why it isn't the right placement for ds. One of those is simply the particular cohort for his year group being too small a group. But I was impressed nonetheless and the HT has invited me to call her at any time for advice even if ds isn't going there Smile and they are SO supportive of parents.

please tell me it is down the road? and free?

AtYourCervix · 06/01/2012 19:11

damn. not down the road or secondary.

StarlightMcKenzie · 06/01/2012 19:16

Sorry AYC. Should have been more clear.

I know it isn't in a convenient location for many, but if anyone is considering moving, you can live in Waltham Forest rather than Essex. Essex is a bit of a horrendous LA to take to tribunal but Waltham Forest are just idiots and likely to be easier to win against.

And WF really has NOTHING to offer as an alternative.

StarlightMcKenzie · 06/01/2012 19:20

AYC, Have you considered Blossom House? Not sure if it is suitable but looks good.
