ipad help

I'm thinking about applying for funding for an ipad. My DS has been out of school (special) for nearly 2 years all they use in school is the smartboards or ipads. There is plenty of educational stuff I can use if he had the use of a touch screen at home. He also has challenging behaviour and is quite unpredicatable so the ipad needs protected.

If anyone is able to help with:

where to apply
what to apply for
ideas of explaining the benefits of needing one
and protection

that would be fantastic TIA x

p.s happy new year everyone Xmas Smile Wine

Bump. I can't help you as I want to know exactly the same thing. Need a tough one or some sort of cover to protect it. HNY to everyone on MN/SN too!!

Hi devientenigma

The website below is a good place to start looking for grants/funding. I haven't applied myself, but I stumbled on the site a few months ago. It gives advice on how to apply and the sorts of organisations to apply to.

My dds ipad has a gel cover (from Amazon) and a screen protector and that seems fine.

Hope that's some help

we applied to the family fund for one for dd3, the space is small for explaining so no need for massive essays. We got an otterbox case which is tough and have also seen griffin cases recommended especially if dribbling is an issue, we also got anti glare screen protectors. You can get them insured either on home insurance or argos do a protection thing when you get it, family fund use argos to provide the ipads.

happy new year to you Smile

we also have an otterbox defender on our ipad and it has really taken some beating!

We've just been awarded one for DS from family fund - i'm weighing up cases too.

I like the look of these:

www.inclusive.co.uk/big-grips-frame-p5755
and this but Shock at the price

another vote for Otterbox case it has been thrown at speed and survived.

I found this list of charities when I was researching trikes which included some i had not come across before.

you should ask for some apps as well esp if need any of the expensive speech ones eg proloquo etc.
