I can only tell you my own experience, which may or not be relevant. My dd has asd and severe language processing problems. She is 9 now, and is able to ask for most things she wants, albeit in a limited way, sometimes one word. If she cannot articulate her needs, she screams. This was a much more frequent occurrence when she was younger. Your son is just trying to communicate and is frustrated, if he is anything like my dd. I don't have any easy answers I'm afraid. I tried to see it as a positive thing that my dd wished to communicate. But, at the same time the screaming could be hellish!

HI,

I had the same situation with my ds. There is no simple answer as each person can only tell you about their own solutions/ideas.

With my ds there was non stop screaming for 6 months. If the doorbell went, if the phone went anything like that would set him off.

2 years down the line he is now talking more doesn't scream and listens when I am talking (though doesn't always do as asked :) ). He sleeps properly, sort of plays with other children though has preferences and his behaviour is much improved.

I went to this chap www.snowdrop.cc/ it was the answer for our son and alot of effort ( about 1-2 hours a day + reading an hour on top of that )on our behalf but to see him now it has been worth it.

This might not be the answer for you but it could point you in the right direction.
