im going to new york tomorrow, which if im excited about,but....i am leaving my ds2 with his nanna. I feel awful but he wouldnt get anything out of new york. He would be stuck in his chair for hours and because hes quadriplegic his limbs get freezing, and we would have to get him out everytime he has a fit (which is sometimes up to 150 per day). We are taking the other 3 kids as a treat because they are so good with ds2, they include him with their friends and can do his meds etc. i guess im just not used to leaving him, we take him everywhere including florida, portugal, france, germany etc etc. Do you all think i am really mean??

I think you bloody well deserve it. He'll be fine, he'll probably enjoy being with Nanna. Dizzy, please enjoy it, you'll probably mind more than he will tbh. Does he understand about it? Bring him a special present and just think how glad you'll be to see him when you get home after a great trip.

Thanks Davros..He wont know anything, he has been assessed as having the development of a 8-12wk old baby. He knows who we are, more from sense of smell and voices as he is reg blind. He can see some things but nobody is sure just how much. He loves his nanna as she minds him when i work and she has him over night when i am really tired. It feels odd giving myself some time off.........

Of course you're not being mean! He wouldn't really get anything out of the trip but I bet he would be happy with his nanna. You'll all come back feeling refreshed and he'll directly benefit from that.

Enjoy the break and enjoy New York!

you go and have a fantastic time

you deserve it.........enjoy

It's only natural that you should feel a bit strange about it but really - you and the rest of your family deserve this break and I have no doubt that your ds2 will be much happier snuggling with his Nanna than freezing in NY!

Enjoy it!

It sounds as if you really deserve a break and I'm sure your Ds2 will enjoy some special time with his Nan. I hope you all have a lovely time.

And don't go and be miserable, enjoy it! OR, you could stay here with my two and I'll go

Have a lovely time. You are not being mean at all.

getbakainyourjimjams · 11/01/2006 21:18

We had our first break without ds1 last year. It worked well, ds2 and ds3 enjoyed themselves, we could do things, and ds1 loved it (my mum and dad looked after him).

getbakainyourjimjams · 11/01/2006 21:19

oh! enjoy yourself!
