hi, is there anyone with experience of this school as I have been offered this school as a named school on my sons statement as the special school I originally named is full up. I'm in two minds about this offer as I hadn't heard of the school before and it's a good 30 mins drive away (although transport will be provided) but I'm not keen on my 5 year old being on transport for an hour a day. Also feel like the choice has been taken away from my hands and LA choice is being thrusted on me. Thanks!

Hi. The school used to be called Holyport Manor and was in Holyport. It changed to Manor Green when it moved to the new site 18 months ago, so maybe you've heard of it by the old name?

The new facilities are excellent. Our DD travels on the school transport for over half an hour each way, and has done since she was 6. I was a wreck and she loved it! Escorts can be hit and miss, but you'll have that whichever school he goes to if you need transport.

Have you visited? The first vibe you get is so important. The teachers are excellent, very caring and the SSA's are lovely with the children. I'm not keen on the Head, but it doesn't affect my DD's day to day care, so don't worry about it.

Hope that was some help?

Thanks so much woodpeckers for the reply. It was really helpful and reassuring to hear your daughter gets on ok with the transport as my ds is similar age. Also nice to hear the teachers are friendly. I will be going for a visit very soon and will see how I feel about it then.

I totally agree about the staff, they are fantastic with the children,
The head teacher on the other hand is there for one reason and one reason only(the money)
I have had several run ins with her.She not only cares very little about the school or the staff but cares even less about the children.
The sooner she moves on the happier all will be
