Hospital refused referral from physio!!

I'm so mad.
Dd1 has shoe inserts due to tight tendons and the pain it causes. She has been under local physio for ages but having tried all sorts physio decided in oct, that she required moulded inserts rather than standard stock ones. She sent referral to hospital department. They have been bouncing it back and forth since oct!!
Now had a call to say they won't take referral from physio but needs to be from GP!! What a waste of time, dd1 hasn't seen GP in ages and he knows nothing about her legs and inserts.
They say it's all to do with money, so need to know the GP is paying Hmm
So in meantime dd1 has no inserts and is in huge amounts of pain :(

Don't know where you are lisad but Dd3 was referred to the Podiatrists by physio.

After being on the waitning list for 3 months they issued her with orthotics and then discharged her after one follow up appointment.

When I said what do I do when she grows out of them and they said "You self refer and join the end of the waiting list again" AArrrggghhh!!

It is a ridiculous situation isn't it.

I feel for your Dd she shouldn't have to be in painXmas Sad.

I'm in herts, it's all gone mad since GP have the pots of money! Angry
I wouldn't mind so much if GP hadn't messed up in the first place and insistent nothing was wrong, an only found out when she was 7!! And that's only because pead referred to physio Confused
I'm at hospital tomorrow, for me but plan to pop into clinic if no one calls me back today!

The whole NHS system seems to have got itself in such a muddle as to who can do what/pay for what etc. If they made a simple system - cut out some of the unnecessary steps - they could afford a better service.
DS3 was refused a dietician's appt when the head of paediatric gastroenterology requested it! Apparently did not meet 'criteria'! When I told SALT - she got him on the dietician's system that afternoon, by having a 'quick chat'.
Your DD shouldn't have to wait until all the ts have been crossed and is dotted before she is back on a list - ridiculous! Sad

thanks, also fighting for who show refer her to camhs!! I want her to go to Child and Adolescent Autism and Related Disorders Service at Maudsley Hospital, as they seem to atleast know what they are doing.
Pead has not answered a single call since sept, and GP wont refer her as according to him it has to come from pead.
Pead is off, and office have no idea when shes back Shock so in the mean time the poor thing is in pain with her legs, refusing to eat, refusing to leave the house and generally an emotional wreak :( I have hit a wall, and not sure what else I can do Angry

I have had mixed fortunes with GP's too, when Dd1 was little they were adamant that she had no issues, She was really unwell at 12 months and it turned out she was dairy intollerant. One of the GP's told me "Milk is good for babies!!!"

I was really mad at them and since then they have been better, although when we wanted a physio referral for Dd3 he did try to tell me that OT needed to refer her which delayed us getting an appointment.

Really feel for you but no advice sorryXmas Sad.

We had this nonsense: paediatrician ref CAMHS who ref back to paed, who hosp wouldn't let us see without a new letter. Our GP is fed up wasting his time rubberstamping referrals just because the local NHS hopes that he'll refuse and then take the flak for rationing the service.

It's pass the buck rather than pass the money.

An GP appointment to get covering note sent with a copy of the original referral letter works, but it's annoying and a complete waste of your (and his) time.
