Ive posted this in B&D too, but i know you lots here will have a good opinions on this to Smile.

At what age do children develop empathy? say when they see another child hurt or they do or say something that upsets or hurts another child/person?

It depends on the child 3. My Dd1 [23] suspected ASD has none my Dd2[16] NT has bucket loads and seemed to always understand when people are sad although as a teen she hides it wellXmas Grin.

Dd3[9] with ASD feels sorry for her teddies when she doesn't cuddle them all every night and is very caring but is very blunt and doesn't understand that things she says can hurt peoples feelings.

Sorry I haven't helped at all have IXmas Confused.

lol of course youve helped Xmas Grin have the almost the same set up here too Xmas Grin

DD1 - ASD no natural empathy at all.

DD2 - NT and is just mother earth really, is over poweringly compassionately caring.

DS - Well i think he was was put on this earth to test and sanity, he shows little empathy but he's not yet 3, so i could just be that he's to young IYSWIM.
