Melatonin help please.

Dh has just picked dd's presecription up from the hospital for her Melatonin it's in capsule form - can we break the capsule open and put it in her drink?

yes we did, you just open the capsule up. We didnt have a powder in ours though , it was more like tiny bead like things!!!! that didn't disolve, it would just float in a drink if it's the same ones.

We tried to put it into a spoon of yogurt, she wasn't keen but that was the easiest way to get it down her

If its the same as ds2's melatonin, the capsules conatin a powder whihc you can mix with milk or fruit juice and sneak into them...

we use a dosing syringe,take it apart, pur the powder in, put the plunger back in and then suk up either a little milkor apple juice nad shake it till the lumps are gone, then its teh eveningly fun of gettingit into ds2 [who would rather eat his own leg off tehn take ANY medicines].

It seems ridiculous that they don't make a syrup form for those who need it but for whatever reason can't take things in tablet form

You can buy a syrup form, just not get it on prescription. DS had it in the past but conversely preffered capsule.

how long does it roughly take to kick in?

The tablets and syrup take 30 - 45 minutes approx, it does depend- more if he has a full tummy
