DS1 is in reception at an ASD unit within a MS school. He has only been having some sessions with his MS class since half term. I went to pick him up from school today and one of the TAs told me that his reception class had their christmas party today. They were visited by Father Christmas who had one present for the whole class. His class had to choose who went up to get the present from Father Christmas and they chose DS1. He apparently said "me - really" and pumped his arm! The TA told me that all the staff were in tears. I was in tears when she told me, and I'm in tears writing this. It has been the best Christmas present - to know that he has made such an impression in his MS class already. We are so very lucky that he is there.

Oh, that's brought a tear to my eye. Reminds me of my DS2. It sounds like they are good at making sure the children from the unit are included by the MS children. Smile

They are. I know they said that they tried really hard to get the kids accepted in the ms class but you never actually know whether that's true until you start. He also did the reception nativity last wk - was doing all the actions and singing along until he saw us in the audience and got a bit bewildered. DH was taking a photo of him at the end and the little boy next to him introduced himself as DS1's friend Smile. I keep hearing random children outside the school saying goodbye to him so he is obviously making friends Smile
