DS is starting special school! Went for the meeting on Tuesday and the head said 'how will he cope on transport?' I told her I would transport him until he was settled as I couldn't explain to him where he was going. She said 'oh well if you're transporting him he doesnt have to wait until next week, he can start thursday' I didnt even know he'd been accepted!

So after a quick trip to fracture clinic this morning he will be starting his first day in special school. I've been so focussed on fighting for him and it's all been a whirlwind.

Now I'm terrified! Is this normal?

Anyway off to bath DS as he has dreadlocks this morning even though I showered him last night. :)

Yes, I was terrified,DS was fine. I transported him too at first, but he is also fine on the bus. Excellent news, well done ! Smile ....oh and consider your hand held.

PositiveAttitude · 08/12/2011 07:43

Oh that's fab. He will be fine and it is obligatory that you go and do something nice for yourself when you have dropped him off.

I know what you mean about focussing on the fight to make it happen an then it all being a surprise when you get what you have been fighting for. DD3 was in a special school that we had to fight for, then when she was due to start I nearly phoned and said "nooooo I cant do this!" Dh was the calm, sensible one who just told me I was crazy!! Hmm

He will be with caring staff who understand his needs and from my experience our staff were all so lovely and prepared to go that extra mile to make it good for DD and for me.

HAve a good day!! Smile

I'm sure it will all be fine!

If you are worried about him coping on transport I would suggest that (when it is organised) you take him in and let transport bring him home so that you can give him a big cuddle when he arrives.
I was worried about ds at first but he took to transport like a duck to water (largely due to a lovely driver and escort)

Hope it all went well Smile

He was fine. They said 'there were no serious incidents, he is learning the rules' which I can only assume translates to 'he is a little monkey but he'll learn' Grin Grin

Thanks everyone!

I was thankful of the taxi queue I had to go in today and to have him brought to my car while I sat all protected from the wind and rain Smile

That's good!! And they have such a nice way of saying things, don't they? Grin

hanaka88 · 08/12/2011 18:04

They do. So much nicer then the last place

Well I am glad your "little monkey" has had a great first day by the sound of it! Grin

Ineedchristmascake · 08/12/2011 18:32

Oh bless them, how nice to say he is learning the rulesXmas Grin.

I sometimes say to parents "He/she is beginning to understand our routines"Grin. Then I wonder if they worry that I think their child is a "monkey".

We call the "monkeys" angel cakes where I work Xmas Grin.

So glad he had a nice day.
