After a pretty horrendous term at school with ds's behaviour deteriorating almost by the day it escalated to him finding his way into the school kitchen last week. The what ifs don't even bare thinking about. Then when we thought it just couldn't get any worse it kicked off big time right under the ofsted inspectors noses. Had a meeting today with school. He's getting 1:1 at playtimes and lunchtimes immediately and they're applying for some funding that only takes 2 - 4 weeks to be agreed to get him his own 1:1 at breaks and lunchtime. This funding apparently lasts a year which gives time for a statement to be sorted. Sometimes I feel like saying I told you so but right now I'm just so pleased he's at last getting what we've been saying all along he needs.

Did you stick pins in him? Grin Great news.

very good news rebel!

coff33pot · 07/12/2011 18:47

Great news! pleased for you and DS :)

Good news however it came about. Always riles me that the ABA supervisor we were paying was in nursery the day OFSTED came who then raved about their SEN provision and rated them outstanding!

Fab news. :)

Are you going to do the statement request yourself? Tomorrow? :)

beingarebel · 07/12/2011 21:30

Nope indigo, don't think I need to. Honestly, it was really quite odd but right now we're going to let them run it. They said all the right things, no wrong things, and I feel its right to let them do it (at the moment).

It is better for them to apply for a statement if you're sure they're going to - because you do really need their 'buy in' - and for them to do the forms properly :)

I can totally understand why you're prepared to trust them for a bit.

Sorry I gave you bad advice upthread. :)

Don't worry indigo about "bad advice"! Doesn't bother me. Your support over the past 2 years has been amazing and I'm very grateful for it.

We'll be making sure we're keeping an eye on the paperwork and timings.
