we have a diagnosis!

well, actually he has had a diagnosis since April, but we only found out when we met up with the paediatrician today and discovered that the letter she had sent out never arrived

but given that we've been treating him as if he had a diagnosis, and school have been as well, it hasn't been too much of an issue.

official DX is high functioning autism

um. that's all really! it's nice but scary at the same time!

Hi thisis. Be kind to yourselves, we were totally expecting Dd3's Dx back in September but somehow I still felt really sad about it.

How annoying though that the letter was written such a long time ago and you didn't know.

Hi thisis. Good that you have a DX, sorry it's not better news. (((hugs))) I hope you'll be able to make good use of it to help get support for your DS.

Thanks both. Both the paediatricians we'd seen had said the same and so we were fairly sure that would be the dx, but like you say it's still kind of sad.
I suppose it's an official acknowledgement that there is something "wrong" with my child, although I try not to look at it like that.

but yes, if it helps him in the long run then it can only be a good thing

i was releived when ds got his dx,but then fell apart 2 days later,hope you are ok,nice to now though xxxxx
