I will try to keep it brief!

We moved house at the weekend...obv very tiring and stressful and dh and I are both lacking patience with the dc atm!

Anyway, for the past few days he has been making this really odd noise...like a ringing phone?? Its driving me MAD. Does it at home, in the car, wherever....

Be honest with me, is it a new stim?

Sad

'This too will pass' Grin

Happy new house.

And what's with the 'dolf' - DS2 is now insisting that I call him Rudolf. I told him at 7 he's far too old for that because I had to call DS1 Rudolf when he was only 3!

(Now that was humiliating, shouting 'come here Rudolf' in the middle of town to a 3 year old running away Blush )

Ds2 (16) Changed school this year, he has spent the whole bloody term winking at me! It'll go, eventually.
Oh, and dd2 insisted on being called Frank when she was 6. No idea where it came from and not remotely related to her name!

Becaroooodolf · 05/12/2011 20:14

Thanks all Smile Just feeling very....rubbish atm re; ds1's issues and that I have pretty much ignored them over the past 6 weeks due to moving etc.

Dh has got the other TV working so thats cheered him up Smile

innedalife Yeah, it is a stim isnt it? BUT he hasnt got asd according to the paed.....sigh.

Some days I think I imagine it, but others.....its so bloody obvious it amazes me that it took me so long to see it! Refusing to leave for school til he had finished counting the spots on the cushions, putting his dvds away in order and getting HYSTERICAL if they are "not right". Putting his school stickers on his "special piece of paper".....you know how it is! Smile

Getting a bit irritated with my SIL (dbros wife) atm...she has a new baby (she is gorgeous!!) and is now a parenting expert Hmm Am finding her lectures on how to treat my dc a bit.... wearing atm Grin

Glad you like my festive NN...tis the season and all that.......

Becaroo you need a [fwine] and some sympathy. Ignore Sil. She hasn't a clue, I know it's hard, but she'll come a cropper soon and will be ringing you in a panic. Xmas Grin.
Moving is a shit for everybody, you're allowed to take time out to panic/organise and do what needs to be done. Yes, it's a tic/stim, it'll sort. Then there will be a new one, that's life.
Drink, chill and try not to worry too much.
(This from the Mum who panics about everything)!

Dawndonnathatchristmasiscoming · 05/12/2011 20:57

aww no festive Wine smiley!

wigglybeezer · 05/12/2011 21:09

DS2 is repeatedly burping at the moment and DS1 clicks his jaw, watching the telly in a relaxed fashion is difficult ATM but they will calm down again eventually.

blueemerald · 05/12/2011 21:25

One of the ways we check (I work in a special school) if something is a "true" stim (i.e. if it is only self stimulating) or an environmental reaction (to test, exagerate or block out light, sound etc) is to see if the student does it on their own in a quiet, dimly lit room (we use our sensory room).
Could you try something similar?

coff33pot · 05/12/2011 22:59

we have moved lately from throat clearing to click clocking noises so I have a horse in the house Grin

Becaroooodolf · 06/12/2011 08:48
