Never had pleasure of starting one before Grin
Had an ok week, apart from one school making it clear they don't want dd2 in their school, fighting centre parks and winning Grin and second week of a horrible cough.
How is everyone?

Well it's only 4pm and have just dumped my two in the bath for some peace!
We had real trouble getting dd1 to leave the house for horse riding this afternoon. Her horse (not hers but the horse she has always ridden) died a few weeks back an she doesn't want to go much. They have replaced horse with a bigger one called barley who but he had meltdown last time she went.
So managed to get her there, kitted and ready to ride new hors Smile until staff told her she couldn't ride new horse as they had a bigger rider who needed a larger horse and asked her to ride other horse. Cue meltdown and refusal to ride at all, even though they said they would take her on next go on her choosen horse, but nope SadSad
It really bugged me as girl they swapped her with was a training staff member!! Not even another paying child Angry

So had horrible afternoon and so have taken to bath very early Wink

TOTU · 03/12/2011 17:36

lisa, imogen, moose a very un-mumsnet hug to you all and an X.

The boys party went as expected. Long story but I won't be hiring a place for a SN kids party again - no matter how much one of my sons whinges.

We got through it. They seemed to enjoy it, which is the main thing afterall.

I've now got wine and have ordered a takeaway. Xmas Smile

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 03/12/2011 17:38

I fancy some more mulled wine, now. We went to get our Christmas tree today, it's 'settling' now and we'll decorate it tomorrow.

I'm really pissed off with 'soon to be ex' H. Every year in early Dec we go to the garden centre, each boy chooses a new decoration and we buy a tree. So it's my weekend and I take them today to find that Dickhead took them there last weekend (still bloody November) to get himself some Xmas decorations. I know it's petty, but I just feel he's desperately trying to hijack all the Christmas traditions we've built up over the years. Of course, DS2 is all, 'We've already been here, I'm bored, can I wait in the car and play on my iPod?'

Aaargghhh!

Ok, rant over. Blush Out with the mulled wine, I think...

TheNinjaGooseIsARoasting · 03/12/2011 18:03

oh dear ellen, he's being an arse, time for some new traditions that are just for you and the boys!

totu, enjoy your wine and takeaway and put your feet up, you've done fab to survive a kids party Xmas Grin

lisa, wine sounds like a very good plan Xmas Smile

imogen, sympathies 2 of mine decided to start kicking each other in the middle of toys r us this afternoon [fsigh]

moose, will keep everything crossed for you xxx

auntevil, we went over to the out of town place as wanted to try sports direct, couldn't have coped with town today, way too manic. The big best buy over there is closing down, some real bargains on their big electrical things! Oh I was signing away, mainly at the way some people were driving Xmas Hmm

We have boots but we had to go up a size on the ones we've ordered so chances are when the boots turn up they'll already be too small [argghhhh] but hopefully we've finished the majority of the christmas shopping now, because of course dh wasn't content with just doing the one shop seeing as we'd gone out.

signandsmile · 03/12/2011 18:12

visions of ninja signing to self, at other drivers, made my day! Xmas Grin Xmas Grin.

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 03/12/2011 18:28

Just read back, didn't spot your neurology appointment. Good luck, lovey. Xx

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 03/12/2011 18:31

That last one directed at moosemama, obviously... Blush

lisad123 · 03/12/2011 18:37

Hope your ok moose, when's appointment?

OP posts:
moosemama · 03/12/2011 20:04

Thanks folks. Appointment is 14th December. I've calmed down now, will probably be something and nothing - at least they didn't say they need to see me immediately, so it can't be desperate can it?

Lisa, sorry for bad riding experience. Was it RDA or just a regular riding school? If it was RDA I'd be shocked, as I used to work with them as a teenager and we always tried to keep everything consistent for the children who came. I had no idea why it was so important at the time - guess I was in training for ds1 without even knowing it!

Imogen, sorry Christmas Fair was a flop - sounds very similar to those type of events with the Moose clan historically.

We actually had a nice-ish time at ours this morning, but only because it was inside the school, in a 'safe' environment for ds1, who was then able to go off around the stalls with his best friend. It helps that all the staff know him and are spread out around the school on these occasions. I don't think I'd be brave enough to take him to one anywhere else. Mum has invited me to one at a stately home tomorrow, but I don't think I'll bother. I think dog walking and putting up decos with the guys will do me.

TOTU, glad you survived the party. I always use the word survived in relation to the dc's party do's as well. Grin Most important thing is that they enjoy it, as I doubt parents ever really enjoy these things. I have to do something for dd in January - can't believe she's going to be 3 already! Shock Determined to keep it family only until she's in school full time though. [mean Mummy emoticon]

Ellen - sorry to hear exh is being an pita about Christmas. As Ninja said though, you can start building up your own traditions with just you and the boys now that totally exclude him. Have a quick search on MN there are some lovely threads with details of other family's traditions - I've swiped a few off here myself over the years!

Ds seems to be completely over whatever caused the bad stomach and vomiting yesterday and has been fine all day. Which I suppose does sort of suggest gluten rather than a bug. Dd on the other hand is grumpy 2.9 year old from hell and has done nothing but whine and say 'NO!' all day. Other than being pale and the conjuncitivtis, she doesn't seem to have any symptoms, but she's definitely poorly. I've left dh to take her up to bed again tonight, as she's definitely going to put up a fight. Hmm

coff33pot · 03/12/2011 20:10

evening all :)

sympathies to all parents whose kiddies were performing well today xx Mine were great all morning. DS was helping me tidy up and then I went round untidying his tidying up to do it properly Grin Had an afternoon watching RIO with DS whilst DD was out playing with her mates. Then she came in and.................then the fight started as the joke goes. DS had taken her dsi from her room and couldnt remember where it was so that was it. Took DS nintendo away from him till he found it. So major meltdown and a huffypants DD to contend with. Alls calm now (whisper) and dsi found hidden in dogs bed!

Christmas pressie wrapping was halted due to a Worm Farm box with no worm farm in it Angry 45 mins hanging on for tesco direct later they dont have any. I even told the woman you dont understand ds keeps them under his pillow I NEED this farm LOL so off to find another ninjago set for him as he has taken a shine to that.

Moosemama..............Let us know which day you have to go in and all us MNs will think about you and send some good luck vibes to go with you on the day xxxx

coff33pot · 03/12/2011 20:12

took so long to get the net working I cross posted Grin Ok will think of you on the 14th :)

unpa1dcar3r · 03/12/2011 21:40

unpaid, how lovely are they on holiday?

Sadly no Ninja, they've gone for 2 years Sad; working, travelling and having fun!

Although from what I can gather they have a veritable menagerie going on in their house and area; so far, Kangaroos going past the windows, 3 red backs in the shed, a mouse in the kitchen cupboard, a bird in the house, a huge brown spider under the peddle in the car, and my personal favourite, a lizard running up her leg. All in a couple of weeks!!!

And I moan about my 2 puppies!
Grin

unpa1dcar3r · 03/12/2011 21:46

By the way Ninja, the sign for Bllocks is the same as Isle of Wight!!!! Heehee. like weighing scales. Sht was always two fingers scraped down the side of your face and crap is whacking under your armpit!!!!

So now ya know you can go round swearing at everybody you don't like and they won't even know bahahaha

Unless they've changed them since I did BSL. Have they changed Sign?

Oh really need to do some reading for college but have been thinking of painting a wall instead just so i can watch it dry; much more fun!
I'm not enjoying it like Sign is unfortunately....Sad

So just watching the final of Celeb and hoping they both win cos they're such sweeties.

TheNinjaGooseIsARoasting · 03/12/2011 22:18

unpaid haha, now you're a sleb an all, looks I'm stalking you Grin signs are still the same, bollocks is fairly much the same as the sign for the old bailey exept hands further apart, friend of mine made the mistake of having her hands to close together, cue many stiffled giggles! We just have the one cat, that's plenty for me. Travelling sounds fun, great opportunity, inter railing was the thing when I was younger but I never managed it, furthest we get these days is Selsey!

unpa1dcar3r · 04/12/2011 00:00

LMAO at Old Bailey Ninja!!!
Of course here in Wet Welsh Wales we don't have any signs for swear words. the only swear words used round these parts are in English! Bahaha. Think the worst you can say is Kie de geg (not spelt like that at all but that's what it sounds like) which just means shut your mouth apparently!
First Welsh I learnt that was.
(Now i've progressed to being able to say 'Dwi dym sharag yn cymreig' which means 'I don't speak welsh'!) I thought it was ironic but haven't met anyone who gets the irony here yet! Wink

Anyway nice to see Dougie win I'm a celeb. His dad was going round Thurrock today putting up 'vote Dougie' posters so I've been told! Bless.
Nice to see Essex portrayed in a better light for once with Mark and Dougie anyway...
So now we got Stacey Solomon, Dougie, Mark...and Meeee all from good old Essex, yaaaaaay Wink

I have 2 cats too; much more pleasant creatures than the dogs. They don't need walking for a start. And they don't do 20 mounds of poo in the garden every bloody day. And they don't eat your leather sofas, pen drives, mobile phones, blankets, dog baskets, loo rolls....

moosemama · 04/12/2011 00:07

Oi! My dogs are reading this over my shoulder and are now highly offended! Grin

They insist they only do 10 mounds a day and the rest are the work of next door's evil cats. Oh - just to set the record straight, they say they only eat biros and very expensive Alessi bottle stoppers that dh happens to be strangely over-attached to. Wink Grin

And ... one of them did not roll in cat poo this morning them come and rub his head on my pyjama leg - oh no. Apparently that was my imagination - as was having to bath him at blooming 8.00 am! Hmm

Moose thinks that on reflection, cats would have been a much better idea - if only dh wasn't allergic to them. Hmm

auntevil · 04/12/2011 15:46

LOL Moosemama. We got a dog too as too much of the asthma setting off with cats. My DH used to be in tears and finding it hard to breathe when he went to my mums, who had a cat. Well that's what he used to tell me anyway Wink
Ninja - I still remember you teaching me a*h**e in the summer in BSL. What is the BSL for star? as school are using a star shape that i know is also another meaning in a song we are doing.

TheNinjaGooseIsARoasting · 04/12/2011 16:20

auntevil, star easier than trying to explain Grin how are the costumes going?

unpaid, well I never knew that about welsh! Have you seen the thread over in the litter tray about daft cats, very funny.

unpa1dcar3r · 04/12/2011 17:49

Ah see, there we are Moose; Cats Rule OK...
Urgh dog rolling in cat poo, took me right back to one day last month when Mick decided to roll in cow poo...OhKaaay so yes that was bad but it gets worse. The aforementioned cow pat was also running alive with wiggly maggots. I tried to persuade him into the river but he wouldn't have it.
So I picked him up by his collar and threw him in, bahaha. He looked highly offended {evil manic grin]
His sister stood there laughing her paws off.

signandsmile · 04/12/2011 19:31

ooooooo!!!! with the maggots!!!!! Shock Shock Shock (they are a pet hate, IYSWIM!) my old dog once rolled in a rotting dead toad he had been eying up days before hand, (it was in the field we always walked in) I have NEVER EVER smelt anything worse than that, Grin

coff33pot · 04/12/2011 21:21

I have 5 cats and one dog.

Dog doesnt roll it poo he eats it yuk! His favourite pastime is chewing stuffed toys and lego bricks oh and the odd cushion corner and also goes out the cat flap with the cats in the morning and sits on the window sill with the odd cat to wait for me if I go out Hmm

That said I have a cat that likes to pinch other peoples socks, boxers from their washing airers in the gardens and bring them home as trophies. She also digs in the garden like a dog for worms and drops them at my feet with the most beautiful triumphant meow.

One of my others likes to go on my walk with the dog in the mornings so its a real pain when I get to the road I have to remember to pick up said cat, cross road and then put cat down again to continue the dog walk......Grin

LollipopViolet · 04/12/2011 22:40

Well thought I'd update everyone. Took my ring back, and ended up getting some gift vouchers as even 4 sizes bigger was still too hard to get off :(

So I've seen some other rings that I'll go and try on, and a nice pendant as well.

Ghost hunt was good, not a lot happened but I enjoyed it and will definitely do another one :)

Got the surprise of my life at tonight's ice hockey game. Got given a birthday present from my 2 friends, and thought that was it, then my friend said I needed to give my bags to his DP and follow him. He'd booked for me to have my picture taken on the ice with one of my fave players! He did it last year too but this time was a complete surprise! :)

moosemama · 05/12/2011 10:50

Shock at maggoty cow poo and rotting frogs!

Coff33, mine eats it as well, when she was a pup she used to stand under our big old dog and wait for him to dispense a hot meal - if you catch my drift. She really is the most disgusting dog I've ever met! Grin

Dh had a cat when he was a child - before he was dx with cat allergy and asthma. Tigsy stole the entire contents of someone's prize Koi Carp collection. Brought them home individually at a rate of a couple of day - and some of them were bigger than he was!

My childhood pet cat used to walk a mile and a half to school with me each morning and wait outside at the end of the day to walk me home again. I knew instantly that he'd died the day he didn't turn up and sure enough, he'd been hit by a car that morning. Sad

Sorry about the ring Lollipop, hope you can choose something else just as lovely with your vouchers.

I am on here to distract myself because I had a big ruck with ds1 this morning - all entirely my fault and he's gone off to school without us making friends properly first. Sad
