Does anyone know if there is any special cuttery or other self feeding supports to help my ds (aged 8) manage to feed himself more independently. He can finger feed no problems, but can not coordinate knife and fork and spoon, etc easily, and really struggles to cut.

I've heard of people recommending 'caring cutlery' which may be worth a google?

SparkleRainbow · 30/11/2011 10:57

Thank you I will have a google right now. Smile

Have a look on the fledglings site as well.

you can also get bowls/plates that allow you to eat more easily one handed to save on coordination, scoop plates and contoured plates.

Thank you I will. The caring cutlery looks good, but it is so expensive Shock

I just had a look at the fledglings brochure, lots of good stuff on there, hope you get it working. www.fledglings.org.uk/docs/pdf/brochure%204%2010.2011

it's working fine for me. Caring cutlery is £6.50 per piece on fledglings, they also sell the bowls on there.

I bought a set of caring cutlery (kids knife, fork and spoon) from Benefits Now for £12.08 incl postage. That was the cheapest I could find at the time.

It's really helped DS to use a knife and fork. Less convinced about the spoon.

Definitely a problem my end Ninjagoose.....

I will try Benefits now....
