I just had to share my excitement that Katie now says yeah instead of squealing for yes! Sometimes she will even say yeah ...sssss turning it into yes. This is the first bit of progress she has made for over a year. Now if we can only get her to say no instead of baaa. It's like living with a sheep sometimes =)

Thank you. I do feel so proud. She turned three in august and this is her first proper word. She says mmm and ddd for mum and dad and does lots of animal noises but this is will help her communicate with other children. It's given me hope that she may speak some day.

Thats great news Sassy, dd2 did not talk until she was 3.5, she's now 5 and can talk very well (when she wants too), never give up hope xxx

Dawndonna · 27/11/2011 10:11

Well done, to both you and Katie!

tryingtokeepintune · 27/11/2011 13:43

Well done.

bee169 · 27/11/2011 15:02

ahh lovely news- well done to you both :)

Sassyfrassy · 27/11/2011 22:13

Today she had a go at saying bath. She can do baaa and then tack on a ff kind of sound. So maybe this is the way to go for us, separating words into their phonemes and doing one at a time until she can combine them.

Sassy did you get all teary-eyed ?

Becaroooo · 28/11/2011 16:15

Excellent!

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 28/11/2011 16:16

My (NT) DS1 only started talking at 3, so I think there's lots of hope for your DD, and it sounds as if she wants to communicate which can be half the battle! Smile
